The two-volume book examines the formation and solution of nuclear legacy problems in the United States, Britain, France and Canada. For each of the countries, an overview is presented of the activities and historical practices of radioactive waste management resulted in pollution of the environment and the formation of a whole range of nuclear legacy problems; the current state of regulatory and legal regulation is considered of decommissioning and rehabilitation of contaminated areas, as well as the history of the development of environmental legislation in the United States; estimates are given of the nuclear legacy volume, including in the context of past and future financial obligations; the main provisions of the current state programs and developed strategies are described for the elimination of nuclear legacy sites and the rehabilitation of contaminated areas; key actions are identified, both already implemented and planned for implementation within the framework of these programs; and approaches and means are analyzed that are being used in the US to optimize and improve the effectiveness of the organization of works on the legacy. A separate chapter of the book is devoted to the organization of interaction with the public in the implementation of similar projects. The book is addressed to scientists and specialists of nuclear science and industry, as well as a wide range of readers interested in the issues of safe solution of the nuclear legacy problem. |

The readers are offered a book that examines the practical issues of assessing the current state and long-term prediction of radiation exposure levels of nuclear industry enterprises, including nuclear legacy objects, per person and the environment. A significant place in the book is given to the formation of judgments about whether such an impact is permissible and to what extent protection measures are necessary.
Practical recommendations have been prepared by the non-profit organization Energy Ecological Safety Fund in the framework of greater activities envisaged by the Federal Target Program "Ensuring Nuclear and Radiation Safety for 2008 and for the Period until 2015". |

IBRAE RAN
In 2013, the Nuclear Safety Institute (IBRAE) was 25 years old. The reader is offered a brief booklet, which contains a description of fundamental and applied scientific works of the Institute and its main achievements. Of course, this is some what fragmented view of the history of the development of the Institute. Never the less set out in the booklet describes quite adequate understanding of the direction and, most importantly, about the nature of activities of the Institute. |

Availability of emergency response system to mitigation of radiological accidents of any kind and impact reduction is one of the main elements of nuclear power industry safety system. High technologies of nuclear power industry require specific organising of emergency response system. First of all, it requires modern system of scientific and technical support of solving technical and scientific problems of emergency response. Therefore, scientific and technical support of environmental assessment, impact forecast and making decisions on the required measures is one of the main elements of emergency response system. Technical Crisis Centre of IBRAE RAN is one of such centres in the system of RSChS (Unified State Service for Preventing and Elimination of Emergency Situations).
