The book is prepared for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ashot Arakelovich Sarkisov, an outstanding scientist, teacher, statesman and public figure, warrior and citizen, a wonderful man with whom the authors were lucky enough to work together and communicate during 30 years of his work at IBRAE. Academician, Vice Admiral A. A. Sarkisov is well known in our country and abroad as a world-renowned scientist and an outstanding organizer of science who has made a significant contribution to the development of the domestic nuclear industry. His life path, full of bright events, labors and achievements, can serve as a good example for the younger generation.
The book is not a biography of A. A. Sarkisov in the literal sense of the word, but is a collection of thematic essays designed to recreate as fully as possible for the reader that multifaceted image of a talented, wise, sensitive and life-loving person who has forever remained in the memory of all who had the happiness to communicate with him. The essays were prepared on the basis of A. A.’s memoirs. Sarkisov, his colleagues, students, friends, relatives and friends, video materials of Ashot Arakelovich’s speeches at various scientific conferences, workshops and friendly meetings are accompanied by numerous photographs, including from family archives and made at various times by the authors-compilers of this book. Many of the materials are being published for the first time.
The book is aimed not only at the scientific community, but also at the widest range of readers interested in the history of our country, its nuclear fleet and big science.
