The Dissertation Board includes leading scientists and specialists of IBRAE RAN in the field of thermophysics and thermal hydraulics, neutron physics and reactor physics, mathematical modeling, geostatistics, radioecology, radioactive waste and SNF management, development of emergency response systems and strategic planning. The Board is headed by the Scientific Director of IBRAE RAN, academician L. A. Bolshov.

During the period of 1995—2022, the Institute successfully defended 41 candidate’s and 12 doctoral theses on topical problems of modern physics, theoretical and practical aspects of nuclear power safety.
